Watchdog Alert

Privacy Policy

Effective: May 12, 2025  ·  Last updated: May 12, 2025

1. Who We Are

AIWatchdog ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at aiwatchdog.com (the "Site"). We publish editorial intelligence, training resources, and policy tools for small businesses navigating AI adoption risks. We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice.

For privacy-related questions, contact us at [email protected].

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly. When you subscribe to our newsletter, download a free resource, or purchase a product, we collect your email address and, for purchases, billing information processed by our payment provider. We do not store payment card details on our servers.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we may collect standard server log data including your IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages visited, and time of visit. We use this information solely for aggregate analytics to understand how our content is used.

Cookies and similar technologies. We use essential cookies required for the Site to function. We may also use analytics cookies to measure traffic and content performance. See our Cookie Policy for details. We do not use advertising or behavioral tracking cookies.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To send you the Sentinel Brief newsletter and other content you have subscribed to.
  • To deliver digital products you have purchased.
  • To respond to inquiries you submit through our contact form.
  • To analyze aggregate site traffic and improve our content.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA/UK Visitors)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing your personal data is as follows:

  • Consent — for newsletter subscriptions and non-essential cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Contract performance — for processing orders and delivering purchased products.
  • Legitimate interests — for aggregate analytics and fraud prevention, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.

5. Email Communications

If you subscribe to the Sentinel Brief or download a free resource, we will send you email communications related to AI safety intelligence for small businesses. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send. We will process your unsubscribe request promptly.

If you purchase a product, we may send you transactional emails related to your purchase. These are not marketing communications and cannot be opted out of while your order is active.

6. Data Retention

We retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed to our communications. If you unsubscribe, we will remove your address from our active mailing list within 30 days. We may retain suppression records (a record that you unsubscribed) to honor your opt-out preference.

Purchase records are retained for seven years to comply with tax and accounting obligations.

7. Third-Party Services

We use a small number of third-party services to operate the Site. Each has its own privacy policy:

  • Email platform — to manage newsletter subscriptions and send emails.
  • Payment processor — to process purchases. We do not store card data.
  • Analytics — to measure aggregate site traffic. We use privacy-respecting analytics that do not build individual user profiles.

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or other advertising-network tracking tools.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — request that we correct inaccurate data.
  • Deletion — request that we delete your personal data, subject to legal retention obligations.
  • Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Opt-out of sale — we do not sell personal data, so this right is not applicable, but you may contact us to confirm.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.

10. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure. However, no internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated to subscribers by email. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Contact
